Captain is a tall, medium-statured appendix-bred prospect with unlimited potential, currently standing 15.1 hands and expected to mature to 15.2 or 15.3 hands. He stands out not just for his athletic frame, but for his immense self-confidence and steady, friendly personality. He is good-natured and calm, yet brings plenty of dynamic energy to his work. Soon to be started, Captain has the mind and athletic capability to excel across the board—whether you are looking for a heavy-duty ranch horse, a barrel prospect, a head horse, or an all-around performance partner. His superb disposition also makes him an excellent candidate for a high-quality family horse.

​Some horses simply make you look forward to riding them. Jags Flash Jac is one of those horses.

“Flash Jac” is a beautiful three-year-old sorrel filly with a flaxen mane and tail, currently standing nearly 14.3 hands. Based on her string test, we expect her to mature to approximately 15 hands. She combines the kind of pedigree, athletic ability, willingness, and mind that make us incredibly excited about her future.

Flash Jac is sired by Jag Chick Shine and out of Little Miss Shady Pine, whose pedigree goes back to Great Pine Jr. and Hollywood Jac 86. With cow and reining influence behind her, she has the breeding to be athletic and capable—and she is showing us that ability every day.

Tim has put more than 90 days under saddle on Flash Jac, and her education has gone well beyond simply putting miles on her in the arena. She has traveled steep terrain, worked extensively in the round pen, worked colts, and spent time in the arena. We believe in giving our young horses a well-rounded education, and Flash Jac has stepped up to every job Tim has given her.

What stands out most about this filly is her consistency. Out on the trail, she is confident and dependable. When Tim puts her to work with colts, she becomes a strong, willing partner. She wants to please, pays attention to her rider, and has never shown us a tendency toward doing anything wrong.

Tim rides Flash Jac nearly every day, and she is consistently one of the horses he comes in talking about after an incredible ride. Tim rides a lot of young horses, so when the same horse continues to earn that kind of praise day after day, it means something. Flash Jac has become one of his favorites because she continually shows up willing, confident, and ready to be his partner. Whether they're covering rugged country, working colts, or spending time in the arena, she has proven remarkably consistent in both her attitude and her performance.

When considering Flash Jac, we think it's important to distinguish age from experience, training, and disposition. She is only three years old, so naturally she cannot have the years of experience of an older horse that has truly “been there and done that.” But Flash Jac was born and raised here at McNamee Colt Company, which means we know her history, her handling, her training, and the horse she has shown herself to be from the beginning. Sometimes that knowledge and a strong, consistent foundation can tell you far more about a young horse than simply the number of years behind one.

With more than 90 days of consistent, purposeful training, Flash Jac has repeatedly shown us that she is sensible, willing, confident, and dependable. Her young age should certainly be considered when deciding whether she is the right match for a particular rider, but her maturity, consistency, and foundation often make her feel well beyond her three years.

Flash Jac has also had her health and genetic testing completed. She has a current negative Coggins and has completed a pre-purchase veterinary examination. Her AQHA genetic health panel was completed through UC Davis, with results showing that she is a carrier of GBED (Glycogen Branching Enzyme Deficiency). As a carrier, Flash Jac herself is not affected by GBED and does not develop the disease from her carrier status. The consideration is for future breeding: because GBED is an autosomal recessive condition, she should not be bred to another GBED carrier. Breeding two carriers creates a 25% chance of producing an affected foal, so an appropriate genetically tested, non-carrier stallion should be selected if she is bred in the future. We believe in being transparent about the health and genetic information available on our horses and are happy to share her testing and veterinary records with prospective buyers.

Whether her future includes reining, ranch work, trail riding, arena work, continued training, or a combination of all of it, Flash Jac has the foundation and versatility to go in a lot of directions.
