McNamee Colt Co. was established in 2003, although it has actually been in the works for over 20 years.
Tim and Bobbi McNamee were married on April 30.2005 at their current residence which also serves as the facility for McNamee
Colt Co. They have a family of five, with Tim, Bobbi, and the three “hired hands”
Colton is 13, and an eighth grader at
Lincoln
Middle School in Clarkston
Washington. Jo Jo is 11, and a
sixth grader at
Grangeville
Elementary School, in Grangeville.
Shantel also attends
Lincoln, in Clarkston, where she is also a sixth grader,
and she is 12. The family of horsemen has a long history of being involved in horses.
Tim McNamee was born and raised in
Mahnomen,
Minnesota. Born a farmer, Tim
enjoyed working the land and being part of a large family, he is 5th of 14 children. Tim always loved horses and began training horses for
he and his brother to sell as a teenager. The first clinics he ever attended were put on by George Dines. Tim knew he was destined for the west, and
after college at NDSU (North Dakota
State
University) in
Fargo,
N.D., he moved to Lewiston/Clarkston area.
Training horses and working for ranches over the past 20 years has given Tim lots of experiences many people would never get the opportunity to have.
Living in beautiful White Bird,
Idaho, where riding year round is a great pleasure, is a
dream come true.
Bobbi McNamee was born in
Pullman
Washington, where her father was attending vet school.
After graduating they moved to Clarkston,
Washington where she found her first true love, horses.
She had many chances to experience all different types of horses at a young age, as her father was into raising a few young babies. When the family finally moved to
Grangeville, Idaho to start a private
practice, Bobbi began competing in local rodeos. After many years of rodeos, Tim was a much needed influence on her riding. Bobbi has worked for
several years for Heckman Cattle Co. in Whitebird
Idaho, helping her father with all of the cattle needs.
They run approximately 3000 head total (1000 mother cows and 2000 head of yearling). Still working for the ranch gives all client horses as
well as their own horses a great job to do, for the outside riding, giving them a break from coral and round pen work.
Tim and Bobbi both work for Heckman Cattle Co. In the spring they run yearling in the Doumecq and
Joseph areas of the
Salmon River
Valley. In the summer
they run cow pairs in the Gospel Hump Wilderness Area. And in the winter, they calve out 200 first calf heifers. All of which are great jobs for young
colts.
All of the children are involved in the horse training when they are available. They seem to all be
blessed with great timing and feel. They lack any fear of being involved in such a strenuous activity. Shantel plans on training horses for her
profession, where as the other two aren’t quite so sure about that yet. Whatever they do, it is assured that they will always be involved with horses.
Come and visit the McNamee’s in the beautiful
White Bird
Valley. See the
beautiful sights and see some great horses. |
